The Green Party of San Diego County (GPSD) is designed to be a confederation of Green organizations, registered voters, and activists in the San Diego County Area comprised of two deliberative bodies (the General Membership and the County Council) and a number of semi-autonomous Locals.
The General Membership is the primary deliberative body of the GPSD whose membership is open to all San Diego County Green activists and registered Green Party voters.
The County Council is the executive body of the GPSD consisting of a number of elected and appointed members representing the diverse constituencies participating in local Green activities.
The Green Locals and Clubs are the volunteer organizations forming the backbone of the San Diego County Green activist community.
The GPSD General Membership sends Delegates to the state Green Party organization, Green Party of California (GPCA). These Delegates are empowered to represent the GPSD's interests at the state plenary meetings and to appoint members to the state Coordinating Committee.
National Structure
The Green Party of California is affiliated with the Association of State Green Parties (ASGP) which attempts to facilitate and organize nationwide efforts to promote Green Party values.
